Meals On Wheels

Nutritious Meals and Daily Care for Seniors in Chautauqua County

For more than 50 years, Meals on Wheels has helped seniors stay healthy, safe, and independent in their own homes.

The Challenge Seniors Face

Many older adults in Chautauqua County want to live at home, but too often they’re skipping meals or eating whatever is easiest — even if it’s not healthy. Poor nutrition leads to declining health, more hospital visits, and greater risk of losing independence.

How Meals on Wheels Helps

Nutritious meals

Balanced meals delivered daily, about 10,000 meals every month across Chautauqua County.

Friendly Visits

Volunteers provide a smile and a check-in that may be the only contact a senior has all day.

Peace of Mind

Families rest easier knowing someone is watching out for their loved one. In emergencies, our volunteers are often the first to notice when something is wrong.

Questions Families Ask Us

Meals on Wheels can be available to people in Chautauqua County who:

  • Are age 60 or older, or
  • Have health, mobility, or recovery needs that make it hard to shop or cook, or
  • Provide daily care for someone else and need meal support.

Meals average $10 each. Seniors are asked to contribute what they can, but no one is turned away because of inability to pay.

  • Hot, cold, or frozen meals designed by a registered dietitian to meet daily nutrition standards.
  • Holiday meals provided in advance so no one is left without food on special days.
  • Wellness checks with every delivery — volunteers and staff make sure clients are safe and supported.
  • Deliveries are made Monday through Friday.
  • Frozen meals can be scheduled for weekends.
  • Delivery schedules can be customized to fit your needs (for example, Monday–Wednesday–Friday or Tuesday–Thursday).

We no longer provide separate diabetic or renal diets. Instead, menus are carefully designed to be balanced and suitable for most seniors.

Many seniors hesitate, but we want them to know: accepting Meals on Wheels doesn’t take away from anyone else. If the funding is there, they can receive meals.
